This Week In Politics

No this isn’t the start of a newsletter or anything. I just am sitting here watching the last night of the Republican National Convention, where in a 20 minute stretch there was a sellout preacher comparing Donald Trump to a messiah, followed by a video of Donald Trump dancing set to the Village People’s ‘YMCA,’ followed by Donald Trump walking out set to the first 5 seconds of AC/DC’s ‘Back in Black,’ followed by Donald Trump’s Golf Professional saying his employer is a great golfer and President Biden is not.

Look, I get that political conventions are big stage shows, concerts and pep rallies. It’s not the RNC. It’s the fact that in the past week, Trump had a near-miss become a Teddy Roosevelt-esque triumph, become all but defined as Teflon Don in the legal system, and other Republican allies shitcan a recently-implemented student loan repayment system.

Vice presidential nominee JD Vance fully ready to ban contraceptives, isolate harder than we did before we joined WWII, and probably fast-track us to Gilead if we follow the links between him and Project 2025.

But don’t worry! Trump’s opponent stared gaping-mouthed and silent at him in a debate. Then consumed his party in a conflict over if he should even be running. ‘President Putin.’ ‘Vice President Trump.’ ‘No I didn’t say I had him in the crosshairs.’

‘If there’s a medical condition, then I suppose I’ll drop out.’ *Gets COVID.* ‘I’m in it to win it!’

I expected to be angry watching the RNC. I didn’t expect to see my sanity melt before my eyes as Donald Trump bats a thousand and President Biden all but falls asleep at the lectern. Anyway, time to go watch Hulk Hogan suplex a Biden sex doll on stage while us Democrats enjoy the feeling of our sanity fraying. Please God drop out Biden.
