Where to start?
So I knew when the inauguration was, and that I would have feelings about it. I told myself in the lead up to it happening that I would practice what I’m preaching and give the Trump administration a clean slate. They won, fine, whatever. I’ll give them a chance to try and actually lead.
Now, I acknowledge that we haven’t had much time to actually see what their leadership is like since he took office. It’s only been about six hours since he took the oath. In those six hours, he has committed to every single executive order promise he’s made, which is not a good thing. If you want to know why, then there are many other articles on the matter that are much more informative than what I could write here. Here’s one.
The EOs aren’t new. I mean, Elon Musk Sieg Heil’d on live TV. So, you know that was new, but no, that really doesn’t even register much on the radar for me. It’s just sort of making real what we knew was coming.
Trump staged an insurrection because he lost an election. He was put on trial, convicted of numerous felonies, had several court cases against him, gets shot at once and nearly shot at another time. Legal justice, extralegal justice—illegal, depending on how you want to frame it.
He’s avoided all of it. As a matter of fact, he’s enriched himself quite well between all of the merchandising, the donations, the flagrant violations of campaign finance laws, the crypto…politics have been quite good for Trump. He won. He can now say that he’s a multibillionaire. He’s a two-term president. He’s avoided any sort of consequence for his actions, legal or otherwise for him—and his entire family too.
He can do whatever he wants. I mean, he could wake up tomorrow morning and decide to be a genuinely decent president. He could do that. He could wake up tomorrow morning and decide to be the most extreme version the most paranoid of us fear he could be. He holds all the cards.
It’s the little things, the seeing within the span of about an hour: Elon Musk Sieg Heiling, and in the same arena, an hour later, the packed arena of Trump supporters are all cheering and doing the Trump Dance to the YMCA. Oh, and they cheered after Elon’s Heiling.
I should be fair: I do think that Elon Musk is emotionally stunted enough to actually not have intended to do that. I think it’s 50/50. He very well could have made the dumbest fucking gesture possible when trying to say ‘My heart goes out to you.’ He’s that much of a sperg. Or he could just be a literal Nazi. I mean, I’m not trying to excuse it for him. I’m just saying that that’s the caliber of person we’re dealing with.
He could be an idiot. He could be a Nazi. He could be both.
There’s like—out of the entire announced administration, three people that I think are worth a damn. Not that I like them, but that they actually have a certain caliber of ability. I’m not counting the business leaders that have aligned with his administration. They might be pulling the strings but I can’t bring myself to say they’re part of the administration. But J.D. Vance, Trump’s chosen chief of staff Susan Wiles, and Marco Rubio. Those are the only three people that I think at the very least remotely live up to the qualifications necessary to be in their chosen positions.
Impeachment is basically impossible. Conviction is definitely impossible by any realistic interpretation. He has the best healthcare team in the world, so his own indiscretions and excesses are likely not going to cause his death in office. He has even better security protection now, assassination attempts notwithstanding. So any Luigis have their work cut out for them if they were to try and do that—and I should clarify, I don’t want that to happen. I may truly despise the man and dread his administration, but that’s not good for the country. It might feel good in the moment, it might feel cathartic, but once people figure out that you can just shoot your problems, then it all falls apart. That’s partly why I’m against the death penalty. Small part. The main part is I just don’t like the idea of the government being able to kill its own citizens.
But that’s another topic. Fuck. You know, you pay attention to the going-ons of the world. You make your mistakes, certainly. You try and understand. You take the time out of your day to look up things you don’t understand. You open yourself up to new perspectives, and you try and understand what the other side’s saying. Understand. Contemplate. Know. Think. Then so many more people just, they just go with the flow. Whatever the first person tells them that they think makes sense, they say ‘okay, sure’ and then that’s where it ends. Now I’m looking at a crowd of however many people fit in this fucking arena, jerking off invisible dicks, and they won. They’re not the majority, but they’re a pretty big minority, and they won.
Congratulations. We all got worn out. And don’t get me wrong, I’m gonna drag my cucked ass back to the polls and whatever elections my glorious fucking state has up this year will have my involvement. Did I even mention yet that our illustrious governor, the Honorable Jeff Landry, requested of the citizens of the state to fly Trump flags on this most gracious day?
In the immortal words of Carl Brutananadilewski:
‘It don’t matter. None of this matters.’
Time to go polish my foot. I have footballs to kick. Hi Lucy.
