Subway Sweet Onion Sauce (Need Image)

I’ll add an image of the finished product when I actually make it again. The title’s just a reminder to me. Recipe below.

It’s my favorite kind of dressing for salads, but they didn’t sell it so I found a recipe online (I forget where) and tweaked it to my tastes. It’s a bit thinner than the Subway version, but that can be fixed with xanthan gum or something. It also keeps for a fair while in a bottle kept in the fridge. The recipe is in part-form, meaning it just presents the ratios to use. If you’re confused, just assume one part equals half a cup or your preferred base measurement.

Ingredients

  • 2 parts apple cider vinegar
  • 2 parts red OR white wine vinegar
  • 4 parts dijon mustard
  • 1 part dried onion flakes
  • 1 part worchestershire sauce
  • 2 parts honey
  • 7 parts water
  • 1 part pumpkin pie spice
  • 0.25 part salt (adjust if it feels excessive or not)

Cooking Steps

  1. Add all ingredients to a saucepan and mix well under medium heat
  2. Heat to simmering, then simmer for 5 minutes
  3. Let it cool then serve or transfer to storage container
